My African Journey

My name is Jessica Brühwiler, and ever since I was a child, I often dreamed of Africa — a fascinating continent filled with wild kingdoms, majestic animals, and endless horizons. To me, it felt like a fairytale, a magical world I knew only from films and stories.

Everything changed in 2021, when I set foot on African soil for the first time — in Namibia. That moment marked the beginning of a journey that would profoundly change my life and the way I see the world. The breathtaking landscapes, vibrant wildlife, and untamed nature opened my eyes in ways I could never have imagined. I began to truly appreciate the simplicity, power, and deep interconnectedness of life.

That first experience sparked a strong desire to explore more of the African continent. In 2022, I travelled to South Africa to take part in a wildlife monitoring project. In the heart of the bush, I had the special opportunity to observe animals in their natural habitat, walk through untouched wilderness, and experience the original rhythm of nature. This time deepened my love for Africa and ignited a curiosity that continues to grow to this day.

Shortly afterwards, my journey took me to Kenya — where I discovered yet another side of Africa. While South Africa introduced me to functioning ecosystems and structured conservation programmes, Kenya felt even more vast, wild, and free. The endless savannahs, majestic mountains, and constantly changing landscapes left me speechless. It was a powerful reminder of just how diverse and extraordinary this continent truly is.

Since then, I have visited several other African countries — each with its own magic, challenges, and unique voice. Namibia, South Africa, and Kenya were only the beginning. They sparked a passion within me that continues to inspire me to explore, learn, and build meaningful connections. If you would like to follow my journeys, you can find them documented on my blog.

What fascinates me most is the deep interconnectedness found in nature. That is exactly why protecting our planet has become so important to me. This journey has inspired me not only to continue exploring, but also to give something back.

I am currently planning safari experiences that go beyond simply travelling — experiences that create a genuine impact. Safaris rooted in conservation, supporting local communities, and creating a deeper connection with Africa’s wilderness. You can find out more under Safari with Jess.

My journey through Africa has become a lifelong adventure — one of learning, sharing, and helping others discover the beauty and value of this extraordinary continent.

And it has only just begun.
