My African Journey
My name is Jessica Brühwiler, and as a child, I often dreamed of Africa — a fascinating land of wild kingdoms, majestic animals, and endless horizons. It felt like something out of a fairy tale, a magical world I only knew from movies and stories. But everything changed when I finally set foot on African soil in 2021, in Namibia. That moment marked the beginning of a life-changing journey that forever shifted my perspective. The breathtaking landscapes, vibrant wildlife, and untamed beauty of nature opened my eyes in ways I never could have imagined. I began to truly appreciate the simplicity, power, and deep interconnectedness of lifefe.
That first experience awakened in me a profound desire to explore more of the African continent. In 2022, I traveled to South Africa to take part in a wildlife monitoring project. Immersed in the bush, I had the incredible opportunity to observe animals in their natural habitat, walk through vast wilderness, and connect with the raw rhythms of nature. It deepened my love for Africa and sparked a curiosity that continues to grow.
Soon after, I made my way to Kenya — and discovered yet another side of Africa. While South Africa introduced me to thriving ecosystems and structured conservation efforts, Kenya felt even more expansive, wild, and free. The sweeping savannahs, towering mountains, and ever-changing landscapes left me speechless. It was a powerful reminder of just how diverse and extraordinary this continent truly is.
Since then, I’ve visited several other African countries — each with its own unique magic, challenges, and voice. Namibia, South Africa, and Kenya were just the beginning. They sparked a passion that drives me to keep exploring, learning, and connecting. If you’d like to follow along, you can find all of my journeys documented on my blog.
What fascinates me most is how beautifully connected everything in nature is. That’s exactly why protecting our planet has become so important to me. This journey has not only inspired me to keep discovering, but also to start giving back. I’m currently planning to host safari experiences that go beyond travel — experiences that create real impact. Safaris rooted in conservation, that support local communities, and that inspire a deeper connection to Africa’s wild spaces. To learn more, check out Safari with Jess.
My African journey has become a lifelong adventure — one of learning, sharing, and helping others see the incredible beauty and value of this continent. And it’s only just beginning.
