Before heading up north to Gabus Safari Lodge (Namibia), I stayed one night at Chameleon Backpackers in Windhoek – and it was such a great choice!
This backpackers is located right in the capital city, which makes it perfect for a stopover when arriving in Namibia or before going further on your trip. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. You can meet other travelers if you want, but it’s also easy to enjoy your own quiet time.
The staff is super kind and helpful, which made me feel very welcome. There’s a shared fridge, so you can keep your own food and drinks. If you don’t feel like cooking, they offer dinner in the evening, and it’s possible to order something to eat.
What I really liked was the little bar, swimming pool, and pool table – a nice mix of chill and fun.
If you’re traveling through Windhoek and need a place to rest for a night or two, I can truly recommend Chameleon Backpackers. Clean, cozy, social if you want it to be – simply the perfect place for a short stay, especially if you're a solo traveler.
